With all eyes (nearly) on Sochi, we turn to Belaya Gora (the White Mountain) Monastery, located on the top of a mountain outside Perm, Russia. The largest cathedral in the Urals, Belaya Gora took over 15 years to build, starting in 1902.
The photographer, Christian Larsen, writes: My visit took place at dusk on 9 January, after some heavy snowfall had hit the area, ensuring that the atmosphere was quite magical. I was brought here by a friend from Wadham College. She deserves the credit for such a find.”
Christian Laresen [2] completed a M.St in Russian and Eastern European Studies at Wadham College, Oxford.
